Lucas Herbert takes two-shot lead into weekend

Lucas Herbert will take a two shot lead into the weekend at Mount Juliet Estate after a stunning run of scoring around the turn sent him back to the top of the leaderboard on day two of the 2021 Dubai Duty Free Irish Open. 

The Australian had taken advantage of the low winds and fresh greens early on day one to post a 64 but soon found himself three behind going out in the afternoon during round two.

He then picked up five shots in six holes from the eighth en route to a 67 that left him at 13 under.  Read more

Australian Lucas Herbert retained the lead at the Irish Open while Rory McIlroy moved up the leaderboard after carding a five-under 67 on Friday.

Herbert also fired a 67 in the second round at Mount Juliet to move to 13 under and two clear of Andy Sullivan (66) and Grant Forrest (67).

McIlroy is eight shots back after carding five birdies with Open champion Shane Lowry (67) also five under.  Read more

Overnight leader Lucas Herbert opened up a two-shot lead at the halfway stage of the Irish Open, carding 67 in the second round on Friday to go 13-under overall at the Mount Juliet Estate in Thomastown.
