Scottie Scheffler leads, Xander Schauffele is close

ATLANTA — Masters champion Scottie Scheffler is playing every bit like the No. 1 player in golf and was on the verge of takng a big lead into Saturday at the TOUR Championship.
Three holes by Xander Schauffele changed everything going into the weekend at East Lake.
Schauffele holed a pair of birdie putts, and then drilled a 4-iron just over the bunker and right by the hole on the par-5 18th, rolling in a 5-foot eagle putt.
The birdie-birdie-eagle finish — Scheffler had to settle for pars — gave Schauffele a 7-under 63 as he went from a six-shot deficit to two shots behind Friday. Read more

ATLANTA – For much of Friday, it appeared as if Scottie Scheffler was determined to turn the final two rounds of the Tour Championship into a stress-free coronation...
But Scheffler cooled on the back nine and Xander Schauffele torched East Lake, playing his last three holes in 4 under, including an eagle at No. 18. Schauffele fired a 7-under 63 to reach 17 under par, two back of 36-hole leader Scheffler (66). Jon Rahm (63) stood alone in third place at 13 under. Read more

Xander Schauffele produced a brilliant finish to drastically reduce Scottie Scheffler's FedExCup advantage heading into the weekend at the season-ending Tour Championship.
Scheffler held a five-shot lead after the opening day and moved as far as seven clear during an eventful Friday at East Lake, only for Schauffele to close the gap with an impressive finish to his second round.
The Olympic champion followed back-to-back birdies at the 16th and 17th with a brilliant eagle at the par-five last to close a seven-under 63, taking him to 17 under and within two strokes of Scheffler. Read more
